Russian pensioner died in the war. But his Belarusian sister was lucky — she received one-fifth of a "Lada"

True, the car wasn't new, so Elena Tsyaraeva's share in the "Lada" was valued at only $250.

Belarusian citizen Elena Tsyaraeva (maiden name — Dorokhova) successfully sued in Russia to receive one-fifth of the property of Ivan Dorokhov — her brother, who died in Ukraine.

In April 2024, Ivan Dorokhov, who was 64 at the time, went to fight. It didn't go well — exactly two weeks passed between the moment he signed the contract and his disappearance. But it took more than half a year to retrieve his body and take DNA samples for identification.

However, there wasn't much competition to divide the inheritance. Ivan's parents, wife, and children had already passed away. Then it was the turn of his brothers and sisters. First, his sister Vera came for the inheritance. Later, the others joined — Ihar, Yury, Tatsiana, and Alena. Alena is the only Belarusian citizen among them.

As a result, the deceased's property was divided into five parts. Ivan left behind a house with a market value of $1100, a garage worth $800, a shed worth $300, and a car.

And it was the "Lada" — the most expensive thing Ivan owned. The 2005 car was valued at $1250.

And there were also remnants of his pension in his accounts — approximately $275.

All this property was eventually divided among the five brothers and sisters.
