Belarusian customs officers deny detaining trucks from Kaliningrad region
The State Customs Committee of Belarus denied information that Belarusian customs allegedly detained 300 vehicles with Kaliningrad license plates that arrived in Belarus from Lithuania, writes BelTA.

The SCC stated that Belarusian customs authorities process transit cargo, including those coming from Kaliningrad, in a regular mode. On average, about 80 vehicles with Kaliningrad registration pass through the Belarusian-Lithuanian border daily. Since the beginning of 2026, about 17.5 thousand of them have already been processed.
At the same time, currently only 16 vehicles of international carriers are in customs control zones on the territory of Belarus, whose movement has been temporarily suspended. 11 of them are registered in Russia. The reason for this is grounds to believe that customs rules might have been violated during import.
The SCC explained that this refers to one of the common methods of evading customs payments. Violators may try to import vehicles disguised as cars already registered in the EAEU. For this, they forge VIN numbers, state registration plates, and technical passports.
To confirm or refute such violations, customs authorities need to conduct checks and examinations. These can take up to 20 working days.
In this regard, carrier companies promptly receive information about the temporary suspension of movement of individual vehicles. They are offered to replace the detained vehicles so that the cargo can continue its movement without delays.
According to the SCC, in the first half of 2026 alone, Belarusian customs officers identified 60 attempts of illegal import of vehicles, including trailers, disguised as already registered in the EAEU. In 16 cases, signs of violations that may be criminal in nature were found.
Administrative proceedings have already been completed for the illegal import of 26 vehicles with a total value of more than 1.8 million rubles.
