A new cultural and educational center "Belarusian Dranik" opened in the Hrodna region
The center was opened in Voranava on the day of the potato festival, writes BelTA.
In several halls, you can learn about the history of potatoes appearing on Belarusian soil, get information about the varieties grown in the district's farms, and get acquainted with many recipes for grated potato dishes and the residents of the Voranava region who have preserved unique ways of preparing potatoes.
There is also a tasting room here, stylized as a peasant kitchen. The main dish on the tasting table is the famous "national dzeruny" — a unique recipe from the village of Nacha. They are prepared from potatoes grated on a coarse grater, with white mushrooms, eggs, sour cream, and a little flour added. They are baked in the oven in cast-iron pots in a creamy sauce.
As Natallia Ramanovich, deputy director of the regional methodological center for folk art, said, the unique recipe for "national dzeruny" has become an integral part of the dossier submitted for preliminary review to the UNESCO commission for inclusion in the World Heritage list. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the Voranava district became the capital of draniki.
The center will start active work on September 1, when the school year begins and children start coming in entire classes.
