Keith Kellogg Explained Why the US Held Negotiations with Lukashenka
«When we talked to Lukashenka, the main goal was to open another channel of communication with Putin».

Former US President's special representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg in an interview with journalist Romina Eshakzai spoke about the negotiations with Lukashenka in 2025.
«When we talked to Lukashenka, the main goal was to open another channel of communication, because we know that Lukashenka talks to Putin. Therefore, we decided: if we can transmit messages this way, we will try.
At the same time, we were allowed to release political prisoners. Not many, but we succeeded. And, I think, it was important. We released them.
But the main reason why we talked to Lukashenka was to convey messages so that Putin would receive the right signal», — said Kellogg.
Recall that Keith Kellogg visited Minsk and held negotiations with Lukashenka in June 2025. After the meeting, the Belarusian authorities released 14 political prisoners, among whom was Siarhei Tsikhanouski. They were taken to Lithuania.
