The descent of the bodies of two climbers who died in Kyrgyzstan has begun
Rescuers have found the bodies of two missing climbers on Kurumdy Peak in Kyrgyzstan and have begun their descent from the mountains. The search for the third participant of the ascent continues .
On the morning of August 24, a new stage of the search and rescue operation – the descent – began on Kurumdy. A helicopter delivered a group of five climbers to the glacier at an altitude of about 4300 meters. They set up camp and immediately began work.
By evening, rescuers found the bodies of two members of the missing group and began preparing them for descent. The location of the third climber is still being determined. Communication with the camp remains one-way, so there is no detailed information about the progress of the operation yet.
Earlier, it became known that Belarusians Maksim Palianski and Mikalai Svirydau, as well as Lithuanian citizen Siarhei Rubtsou, had ascended Kurumdy Peak in Kyrgyzstan. On August 2, the group reported that they had begun their descent, but did not reach the designated location. After this, a large-scale search operation was launched.
On August 16, the bodies of the missing climbers were spotted during drone footage of the area.
