Minsk residents lined up in a long queue for Uzbek melons PHOTOS

The Uzbek Melon Festival has started in Minsk, attracting a large number of people near the Palace of Sports. The event opened on August 28, with the greatest excitement generated by the tasting and sale of melons, writes Tochka.by.

Visitors lined up in advance, discussed different varieties, and wondered if there would be enough melons for everyone.

Before the festival began, the organizers did not announce the price of the product, but after the opening, it became known that a kilogram of Uzbek melon costs 2 rubles. For many visitors, such a price was a pleasant surprise.

At the festival, several varieties were available for tasting, including "Torpedo," "Okruga," "Abi-navot," and "Kukcha." Special attention was drawn to an unusual watermelon-melon – its rind has stripes similar to a watermelon. There was even a small struggle among buyers for these fruits. The organizers promised to bring many more of these melons on Saturday.

In total, several tons of produce were delivered from Uzbekistan to Belarus. Approximately one and a half tons of melons were brought the day before, and about another ton was delivered by plane to preserve the freshness of the fruits.

The festival is not only gastronomic but also cultural in nature. Visitors were offered grapes, nuts, fresh and dried fruits, vegetables, and other products from Uzbekistan. One could also taste plov, Samarkand flatbreads, and other national dishes.

In addition, the program includes concerts, performances by dance groups, and presentations of Uzbek traditions and crafts. The organizers hope that the festival will become an annual event and a new tradition for Minsk.
