Lavrov stated that Russia wants to resolve the issue of the war in Ukraine "by 'guy's rules'"
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in an interview with RBC, spoke about the Kremlin's approach to negotiations with US President Donald Trump. According to him, Russian authorities strive to resolve issues "by 'guy's rules'," which he calls a "noble" approach.
Lavrov claims that it was with such an attitude that Vladimir Putin went to a meeting with Trump in Anchorage a year ago. The Russian side allegedly expected to agree there on an end to the war and sign a corresponding agreement.
"We are used to doing things, one might say, nobly, one might say, by 'guy's rules,' which, in essence, is one and the same," claims the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Lavrov, during the negotiations, Putin fully agreed with Trump's proposals and the parties allegedly "shook hands." However, later, as the Russian minister claims, representatives of the European Union and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky intervened in the process, allegedly disrupting the agreements reached in Anchorage.
After this, the White House's position, according to Lavrov, significantly changed, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for seeking new approaches to negotiations.
