"OMG... Should I wipe with the receipt?" Belarusians discuss the quest of visiting the toilet at Dokshytsy bus station

Passengers of intercity buses are outraged by the absurd system of toilet access at the bus station in Dokshytsy. One of the travelers shared her experience on Threads, after which the story sparked a wave of discussion about service at Belarusian bus stations, BGmedia writes .

Bus station toilet quest

"How to get in there?"

A Belarusian woman described an unusual system for paying for the toilet at the bus station in Dokshytsy. She shared her impressions on Threads.

According to her, the toilet at the bus station is paid – a visit costs as much as 1 ruble 10 kopecks. But the problem, the woman claims, is not so much with the payment itself, but with how to get inside.

First, the passenger must go to the bus station ticket office and pay for the visit. After that, they are given a key to either the men's or women's toilet. The author of the post claims she did not receive a receipt for this payment.

For a person traveling by scheduled bus and having only a few minutes at the stop, such a procedure turns into a real race.

"Since Dokshytsy is on a route where many routes intersect, there's a queue at the ticket office for keys to both the men's and women's toilets," the Belarusian woman explained.

According to her, some passengers get angry because they fear missing their bus, while others laugh at the absurdity of the situation.

"Some get angry that they won't make it, because many have only a five-minute stop, some laugh, seeing the absurdity of the situation," she wrote.

The bus station in Dokshytsy serves intercity routes. According to current schedules, it includes routes to Minsk and other cities.

"This is mocking people"

The story quickly sparked a reaction from users. Most saw it as a far from funny problem.

"Just some kind of an anecdote. And it would be funny, but it's not funny, because it's mocking people."

"OMG... Should I wipe with the receipt?"

"Of course. The situation itself is absurd in 2026. Even if the toilet is paid, you can make it possible to pay by card so people don't run around the station looking for how to pay."

"I generally don't understand how such an absurdity exists in our time. It's a vital necessity."

Judging by the comments, Dokshytsy is not the only place where a passenger first has to go to the ticket office and only then look for the toilet.

One user said that a similar situation exists in Kruglae. There, you also have to pay for the toilet at the bus station ticket office, get a key, use the toilet, and then return the key. The only difference is the price – according to her, a visit costs 20 kopecks.

Moreover, there's another problem: the toilet operates according to the bus station's own schedule. After 5:00 PM on weekdays, passengers have to look for another place.

"And after 5:00 PM, wait for a shuttle in the yard, and where to find a toilet in the city center is also a mystery," the woman wrote.

Other discussion participants admitted that they had encountered similar situations at other bus stations as well.

A similar story surfaced in Nesvizh. One passenger said that the toilet at the bus station was already closed at 6:00 PM. Reviews about the Nesvizh bus station also contain remarks about the toilet: users write that it is paid and in some cases, payment can only be made in cash.

Similar complaints are heard regarding other Belarusian bus stations.

For example, in 2025, Threads users discussed the state of the bus station in Postavy. The building looked so abandoned that some wondered if it was even operational. Local residents admitted that they were embarrassed by one of the first objects seen by those arriving in the city.

"I'm ashamed of our Postavy bus station. It's a disgrace to the city!" one commentator wrote.

In the comments, residents of other cities in the Vitebsk region advised paying attention to their own bus stations:

"You should visit Miory."

"You haven't seen Hlybokaye!"

"Haven't you been to Verkhnyadzvinsk?"

Именно отсюда пошел термин 'коричневые рубашки'. Думаю снова жесточайше напихают туалетной бумаги в железобетонную коробку.
