Kazakhstan introduces paid entry permits. Belarusians also affected
Kazakhstan is introducing paid electronic ETA permits for entry for foreigners, including Belarusians. While the system is currently in test mode, it will gradually become mandatory, writes Office Life.
From November 1, a permit will be required for entry through airports, from November 15 — through external land borders of the EAEU, and from November 30 — also through borders with EAEU countries. From December 15, ETA will be necessary regardless of the method of entry, including when traveling by train or through the Caspian Sea ports.
If the application is submitted no later than 72 hours before crossing the border, the permit will cost around 3900 Kazakhstani tenge (approximately 26 Belarusian rubles). For later submission or payment at the border, the amount will be around 7600 tenge (51 ruble).
The ETA will be valid for 180 days and will allow staying in Kazakhstan for up to 90 days during this period.
However, a visa-free regime still operates between Belarus and Kazakhstan — the new requirement specifically concerns the electronic entry permit.
