Cuba Experiences Full Blackout Again

On September 18, Cuba once again experienced a complete shutdown of its national electricity system. This was reported by the country's Ministry of Energy and Mines. Authorities stated that procedures for restoring electricity supply have already been initiated.

The last time a complete collapse of the energy system occurred in Cuba was in July — it happened three times in less than ten days. As a result, almost the entire territory of the country was left without electricity for an extended period.

The energy supply situation in Cuba has sharply deteriorated after U.S. authorities took measures in early 2026 that restricted oil supplies to the island. Almost all summer, the country faced very long power outages and severe disruptions to water supply.
