The Catholic Church categorically opposes the development of in vitro fertilization, calling it an analogue of cloning.
In Belarus, a system of preferential lending will be established for young families suffering from infertility, to facilitate in vitro fertilization (IVF). At the initiative of deputies, such a support measure is envisaged in the National Demographic Security Program for 2011-2015.
Approximately 200 women in Belarus seek IVF monthly, and around 700 children are born annually.
The Catholic Church categorically opposes the development of in vitro fertilization. The Church compares it to human cloning. "The Catholic Church, while sharing concern about the problem of infertility and encouraging the search for new methods of its treatment, at the same time categorically opposes the use of technologies that contradict the Christian concept of the honor of the family, parenthood, childbirth, and the human embryo, as well as the meaning of human sexuality," it was stated in an official declaration.
The focus is on encouraging the birth of second and subsequent children in families. According to a sociological survey,
every third young couple in Belarus would like to have more children, but for some reasons, they do not decide to.
the amount of birth allowance is increased: upon the birth of the first child — 10 subsistence minimum budgets (4.42 million rubles), for the second and subsequent children — 14 subsistence minimum budgets (6.19 million rubles).
