Statkievich Held in Solitary Confinement

Details remain unknown.

Belarusian ex-presidential candidate and current political prisoner was placed in solitary confinement cell on June 27, statkevich.org says.

In May, 2011, Mikalaj Statkievich was accused of organization of mass disorders and sentenced to 6 years’ medium security imprisonment.

The politician was transferred from penal colony to prison as he “was not striving to reform,” “was not eager to be released ahead of schedule” and “is planning to continue criminal activity” after release.
