Voters Are Alien Here: Interiors of Polling Stations in Belarus
Elections in Belarus are like rites of an orthodox political religion. The new project by Nasha Niva photo correspondent Siarhiej Hudzilin.
For a long time I have wanted to show what elections in Belarus are. Falsifications, rallies, voters or candidates? No,
polling stations interiors tell about elections in Belarus in the most expressive way. They accumulate everything: our culture, our system and our mentality. These interiors tell us more than all politicians and OSCE observers will be ever able to tell.
The canonical arrangement of all the elements establishes the altar of the political religion in this political system.
These shots need no people: people are somewhat alien there.
