Investigators Revealed Where Putin and Kabaeva Live and What Their Home Looks Like
Many investigations about Putin have recently been published, in which journalists revealed the immense property of the Russian president in terms of size, quantity, and cost, registered under straw persons. But there was still no answer as to where Putin lives. The publication «Proekt» (Project) for the first time answered this question.

According to investigators, despite Kabaeva owning the largest and most expensive apartment in Russia, located in a residential complex in Sochi, she lives with Putin away from prying eyes — in the Novgorod region, in Valdai.

«Proekt» spoke with no less than ten former and current high-ranking officials, and all of them admitted that they had never seen Putin and Kabaeva together, not only at public but also at private events and meetings. A prominent businessman, who had witnessed Putin's ski holidays in Sochi on multiple occasions, admitted that Putin never took his life partner there either. At the same time, none of «Proekt»'s interlocutors doubted the connection between the president and the former gymnast.
Journalists found not only the residence of Putin and Kabaeva but also the interiors of the Russian president's favorite residence, built in the 2000s. In 2003, the first version of the residence was ready, the design was high-tech, and Putin did not like it. He said he wanted it to be "like in St. Petersburg".

Working on the investigation, «Proekt» tracked down one of the construction managers of Putin's Valdai residence. He built Putin's dacha until 2005, when the main works were completed. The photographs he provided were verified by «Proekt» — they offer a glimpse inside the presidential home, because the interiors reflect its owner's idea of beauty. There is again a lot of gold and precious stones.

In 2013, Putin officially divorced his wife Lyudmila, but he did not stop loving Valdai, writes «Proekt». It was here — at first, probably, to that "golden" house — that he brought his new chosen one. And later, he built a new terem (traditional Russian wooden palace) for Kabaeva and her children — this one made of wood.
The surroundings of Putin's and Kabaeva's residences in Valdai are protected areas. Most of the forests there are guarded not only by the FSO (Federal Protective Service) but also by law — these are territories of the Valdai National Park. This, however, did not prevent a large construction project initiated in 2018 right on the specially protected lands of the national park — there, a secret railway was decided to be built for Putin and his close ones.
During the work of a «Proekt» correspondent in Valdai, several local residents confidently reiterated: in recent years, Putin uses an individual armored train for trips to the lake, for which a secret protected station was built near the residence. Despite the secrecy, finding this station and the railway line leading to it, as journalists claim, was not particularly difficult.
In satellite images, investigators saw that a children's playground and a karting track were built on the territory between 2016 and 2020 — journalists consider this as one of the proofs of children's presence on Putin's dacha territory.
Last year, WSJ reported that Kabaeva and Putin have three children together. «Proekt» did not disclose information about the number and gender of Vladimir Putin's alleged children, citing their minority.
