Prices for live Christmas trees will be lower this year than last year.
The first to publish prices for New Year's trees were the forestry enterprises of the Homiel region, which plan to sell at least 17,000 of them. They will be sold at traditional Christmas tree markets and fairs, as well as directly from the warehouses of forestry and forestry enterprises, reported in the Homiel Regional Executive Committee.

Interestingly, current prices appear to be lower than last year's:
- up to 1 meter — average 8.5—12 rubles;
- from 1 to 2 meters — 11—14 rubles;
- from 2 to 3 meters — 15.50—20 rubles.
Last year, the minimum price named by the Homiel Regional Executive Committee was 11 rubles (almost 30% more), and the maximum reached 30 rubles (50% higher).
This year, these prices are also lower than those published by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade before last New Year. Even the ministry's «estimated retail prices» — which were about half the real prices at some forestry enterprises — still looked higher than the current ones:
- up to 50 centimeters — 5 rubles;
- up to 1 meter — 13 rubles;
- up to 2 meters — 16 rubles;
- up to 3 meters — 23 rubles.
