Before meeting with Whitkoff and Kushner, Putin made uncompromising statements
Following his speech at the "Russia Calling!" forum, from where Russian President Vladimir Putin headed to a meeting with US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, he made strong statements regarding the course of the war and the position of European countries in negotiations on Ukraine.

According to Putin, Europe "lives in illusions" regarding the possibility of a strategic defeat for Russia. In his opinion, Europeans have excluded themselves from the negotiation process and are now preventing the Donald Trump administration from negotiating. Putin believes that EU countries are taking the side of war, and their proposals only block a possible peace.
Putin called European initiatives unacceptable. According to him, they deliberately set requirements that Russia cannot accept, in order to then accuse Moscow of disrupting negotiations.
Russia, on the other hand, is supposedly ready for negotiations, but "based on reality". If Europe wants to return to dialogue, taking into account the situation "on the ground," then Moscow is "not against" it.
At the same time, Russia supposedly does not want war with Europe, but is ready for it at any moment. If European countries start a military conflict, then Moscow will very quickly "have no one to talk to."
Putin assessed the strikes on Russian tankers in the Black Sea as "piracy." If such attacks continue, then Russia, supposedly, can "cut Ukraine off from the sea."
