Babaryka was sent to punitive confinement after meeting with Protasevich
At a press conference after his release, Viktar Babaryka answered a question from «Zerkalo» about his meeting with Raman Pratasevich, which took place in the colony in January 2025. The former banker revealed that he ended up in a punitive isolation cell because of it.

«As a result of the meeting with Raman Pratasevich, I went, as inmates say, to 'kicha', meaning to a punitive isolation cell. Because the answer to the question he asked me was incorrect. So I spent more than two weeks in solitary confinement, moved from a cell-type room. This is a minus,» Babaryka noted.
However, according to the ex-banker, there was also a plus to this meeting.
«For three years, I was deprived of everything. It was impossible to send me anything except one parcel weighing two kilograms. Half a year after meeting Raman, I received two kilograms of coffee. For that, I thank them very much,» Viktar Babaryka shared.
