Fragments of "Oreshnik", with which Russia attacked Ukraine tonight, are shown
The Security Service of Ukraine has established the location of fragments of the Russian ballistic missile with which Russia struck the Lviv region on the night of January 9.
According to preliminary information, the found components belong to the "Oreshnik" missile system.
Among the already identified parts:
- stabilization and guidance unit (effectively the missile's "brain");
- parts from the engine unit;
- fragments of the orientation mechanism;
- nozzles from the dispensing unit platform and more.
The corresponding fragments have the status of material evidence and are being prepared for in-depth examinations.
SBU investigators classify the use of this weapon against Ukraine's civilian infrastructure as a war crime by the Russian Federation.
According to preliminary data, the enemy launched an "Oreshnik" medium-range "surface-to-surface" missile from the Russian Kapustin Yar test site.
By attacking civilian objects of our state near the border with the European Union, the Kremlin attempted to destroy the region's life-support infrastructure amidst sharply deteriorating weather conditions, the SBU reports.
