The number of forcibly deported Belarusians doubled in Poland last year
In 2025, Poland significantly increased the number of forced expulsions of Belarusian citizens – almost twofold compared to the previous year. This was reported by Belsat, citing data from the Polish Border Guard.

In total, during the year, Polish authorities adopted and implemented over 9.4 thousand decisions obliging foreigners to leave the country. Some of them were fulfilled voluntarily, while the others were carried out by force.
The majority of such decisions in 2025 concerned citizens of Georgia – over 1.9 thousand, of which about 360 people were forcibly deported. Belarusians took second place: almost 1.3 thousand decisions, approximately 130 of which involved forced expulsion, accounting for about ten percent. Citizens of Ukraine ranked third – more than 1.2 thousand decisions, with the vast majority of them being enforced. Citizens of Moldova were also frequently subject to return obligations.
For comparison, in 2024, over 8.5 thousand foreigners left Poland, and this mostly occurred voluntarily. Over 1.3 thousand Belarusians were recorded then, but there were only 66 forced expulsions. Thus, although the total number of expelled Belarusians slightly decreased, forced deportations became approximately twice as many.
Against this backdrop, proposals are also being made in neighboring Lithuania to strengthen migration policy to combat abuses and document forgery. The newly appointed head of Lithuania's Migration Department emphasized that this is not about reducing the number of migrants, but about stricter control over immigration processes.
