Can a taxi driver refuse to take a passenger with skis and a sled? Yes, but not always
An attempt to order a taxi when a person wants to travel with a children's sled or skis may end with the driver refusing to transport the luggage — and in some cases, he will have the right to do so. Viktoryia Ramanchykava, a lawyer and head of the legal consultation office of Dobrush district, explained in which situations it is possible to transport equipment and in which it is not, writes "Minskaya Prauda".

The main rule: luggage must comply with the technical capabilities of the car. Hand luggage must fit freely into the cabin and not obstruct the driver, and large items must fit entirely in the trunk.
Legitimate reasons for refusal by the driver:
- Dimensions: items (e.g., long skis or large sleds) physically do not fit into the car or trunk.
- Cleanliness: the equipment is wet, dirty, or covered in snow and may soil the interior.
- Safety: transporting items may pose a risk to the driver or passengers (e.g., if items are not secured).
The refusal will be unlawful if small, clean skis in a cover or collapsible sleds easily fit into the cabin or trunk, and the driver refuses to transport them without objective reasons.
Thus, the presence of winter equipment itself is not a reason for refusal. The decision depends on the condition, dimensions, and the possibility of safely and neatly placing the items in a specific car.
