On Sunday, January 25, the Presidents of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Poland, Karol Nawrocki, will visit Vilnius. Together with the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, they will participate in commemorative events. The occasion for the high-level meeting is the anniversary of the 1863-1864 Uprising.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is also expected to participate in the ceremony.
This is not just a protocol visit, but a symbolic gesture that emphasizes the unity of four nations and their readiness to defend their freedom and independence together. The special significance of the moment is underscored by the fact that January 25 is Volodymyr Zelenskyy's birthday.
It was in Vilnius, on Lukiškės Square, that the leaders of the uprising, including the Belarusian national hero Kastus Kalinouski, were executed. In 2019, their miraculously found remains, discovered as a result of a landslide on Gediminas Hill, were solemnly reburied in the chapel at Rasos Cemetery.
