From Wednesday, a certificate from the military enlistment office is mandatory for issuing passports to young men aged 18-27
Starting February 11, a decree by Lukashenka comes into force, introducing a new administrative procedure — "Issuance of a certificate regarding military duty."

The purpose of the procedure is to ensure citizens fulfill their military duty and to achieve completeness and accuracy of military registration data, reports the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The certificate regarding military duty will be required for obtaining or replacing a passport, driver's license, and permission to acquire and store civilian weapons.
Military commissariats and their separate units will issue the certificate to all male citizens aged 18 to 27 [conscription age in Belarus — NN] free of charge within one working day.
The certificate will be issued to everyone who personally applies to the military commissariat or its separate unit at their place of residence, regardless of whether they are subject to military duty.
In the early 2000s, three history teachers fled to Ukraine from the "genocide of the Belarusian people" committed by Lukashenka's regime. What was their fate?
