Didn't pay utilities and lost apartments. Now this housing can be bought at a price lower than the market rate
Periodically, apartments with a "history" are sold at auctions in Minsk: their owners didn't pay utilities, and as a result, their housing is confiscated and offered at a price lower than the market rate. Anyone can participate in the bidding. What options are currently available, writes Onliner.
One such confiscated apartment is located in the building at Hrybny Lane, 28, in the Paunochny (Northern) village within Minsk. This is a panel high-rise building constructed in 1990. The one-room apartment, with an area of 33.8 sq. m, is on the second floor. Those wishing to compete for this lot must prepare at least 166,000 rubles (approximately $58,200 equivalent) — this is the starting price, which may increase during the bidding.
The bidding step is 5% of the initial figure.

The apartment on Michurina Street, 10, has the same area but is already divided into two rooms. The building itself is quite old — constructed in 1958. It's a three-story brick building, located midway between the "Mahiliovskaya" and "Autazavodskaya" metro stations. The two-room apartment, with an area of 33.8 meters, is on the first floor.
Bidding will start at 158,000 rubles (approximately $55,400 at the current exchange rate).

On Kabushkina, 76, an apartment with an area of 31.4 sq. m will be looking for new residents. This one-room apartment is on the fourth floor of a brick five-story building constructed in 1951. It's worth noting that the location of the property cannot be called good: a huge territory of the MAZ machine-building enterprise stretches nearby. However, Chyzhouka Reservoir is literally a 10-minute walk from here. The initial offer price is 153,000 rubles (approximately $53,600).

Another confiscated apartment is in the building at Vasniatsova, 8/1. The building is panel, constructed in 1966. Nearby is Chingiz Aitmatov Park, a little further is the "Partyzanskaya" metro station. The compact apartment, with an area of 29.5 sq. m, is located on the fourth floor of the building. The auction starts with an initial bid of 153,000 rubles (approximately $53,600).

On Bajkalskaya, 66/1, a one-room apartment with an area of 33.2 sq. m will be looking for new owners. It is located on the sixth floor of a panel nine-story building. The building was constructed here in 1982. For reference, the "Mahiliovskaya" metro station is nearby. The initial price of the lot is 183,000 rubles (approximately $64,210 at the current exchange rate).

The brick nine-story building on Akademika Krasina Street, 24, was built in Sasny village in 2001. An apartment with an area of 39.3 sq. m will be sold in it. It is located on the seventh floor of the building. Bidding will start from the amount of 179,000 rubles (approximately $62,800).
