A strategy for Ukraine's relations with Belarus is already being developed. After the work on the document is completed, it will be presented to people's deputies. This was announced by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada as a candidate for approval for this position, reports "Ukrinform" agency.
According to Andrii Sybiha, the document will first be presented to the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and inter-parliamentary cooperation, after which its content will be made known to other deputies.
Sybiha emphasized that the Belarusian direction continues to pose a threat to the security of Ukraine and Europe. He also stated that Belarus bears responsibility along with Russia for the aggression against Ukraine, and the regime of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, in his opinion, must be held accountable.
The diplomat noted that Ukraine has already developed key approaches to its policy towards Belarus. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities have established cooperation with Belarusian democratic forces. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also appointed an ambassador at large responsible for the Belarusian direction.
Sybiha stated that this direction will continue to be strengthened at the institutional level.
Later that same day, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Andrii Sybiha as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
