The Belarusian Railway's announcement states:
"Due to the arisen necessity to conduct an unscheduled technical inspection of EPM and DP-3 series trains, certain business-class interregional line trains will operate as compositions formed from locomotive-hauled carriages."
This means that modern high-speed trains will be replaced by electric and diesel locomotives with attached carriages.
These routes will be affected by the replacement:
- from March 6 to 8: train No. 733 Minsk — Brest, departing from Minsk at 17:21 and arriving in Brest at 21:06;
- from March 7 to 9: train No. 734 Brest — Minsk, departing from Brest at 6:34 and arriving in Minsk at 10:41;
- from March 6 to 12: trains No. 705 Polotsk — Mogilev, departing from Polotsk at 7:11 and arriving in Mogilev at 10:48, and No. 706 Mogilev — Polotsk, departing from Mogilev at 17:20 and arriving in Polotsk at 20:52.
Due to the necessity of ensuring passenger seating, the possibility of purchasing travel documents for these trains may be temporarily unavailable in the Belarusian Railway's systems and sales points. It is necessary to periodically track updated information in the unified section "Passenger Services" on the official website of the Belarusian Railway and in the mobile application "BC. My Train".
To passengers who previously purchased travel documents for the mentioned trains, the difference in fare will be refunded upon contacting the ticket offices of the Belarusian Railway.
In early February, some business-class trains manufactured by the Polish company PESA, heading towards Vitebsk and Mogilev, were already temporarily replaced with compositions using diesel locomotives. Later, this situation repeated with other trains.
At that time, the official reason cited was the alleged inability of Western technology to operate in the harsh conditions of Belarusian weather.
