On Sunday, March 8, 2026, thick black smoke completely covered the sky over the Iranian capital after a series of night strikes by Israeli and American aviation on key oil storage facilities.
Local residents describe the situation as apocalyptic: the sun was not visible even after dawn, and black rain, saturated with oil products and soot, fell on the city streets.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society issued emergency recommendations, urging citizens not to go outside and not to turn on air conditioners, to prevent toxic particles from entering homes.
Acid rain, formed due to the emission of enormous amounts of sulfur and nitrogen oxides, poses a particular danger. Doctors recommend rinsing the throat with salt water to clear it of oily soot, and wearing masks if going outdoors is unavoidable.
The Israeli side states that the oil depots were legitimate military targets, as they supplied fuel to the regime's military infrastructure.
