The decision was made as part of the procedure for withdrawing from the organization. It concerns the Agreement on the Establishment of the CIS and its Protocol. Both documents were signed in December 1991 before the collapse of the USSR. The CIS Charter, adopted in Minsk on January 22, 1993, is also being denounced.
Now the bill will be sent to the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu. If approved, the document will be submitted to parliament. With a positive decision from the deputies, the republic's participation in the CIS will be terminated.
Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi announced the launch of Moldova's withdrawal procedure from the CIS in January.
Currently, the CIS members include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
