A Greek oil tanker en route to Russia was attacked in the Black Sea. According to the Greek Ministry of Shipping, the vessel was subjected to shelling or a drone attack approximately 26 km from the port of Novorossiysk, Bloomberg reports .

The tanker named Maran Homer is damaged but continues to move under its own power. No oil leakage has been reported, and all 24 crew members are safe with no injuries. The risk management company MTI Network reported that a projectile hit the vessel, but the extent of the damage is currently unknown. The vessel has left the scene for inspection.
Bloomberg notes that in recent months, tankers in the Black Sea have become targets of Ukrainian attacks, as Ukraine expands its strikes on Russian oil infrastructure in an effort to reduce the Kremlin's oil export revenues. However, no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack on the Maran Homer.
Greek Minister of Shipping Vassilis Kikilias stated that the attack could be related to "pressure from countries in the region." He emphasized that Greece defends the interests of its fleet and plans to raise this issue at the European Council meeting.
