Trump urged countries affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to send warships there
U.S. President Donald Trump urged China, France, Japan, South Korea, Great Britain and other countries to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz so that it "ceases to pose a threat" from Iran. He wrote about this in his message on the social network Truth Social on March 14.

Trump noted that Iran could launch drones or missiles towards the strait. He called on countries affected by a possible blockade of the strait to send ships to ensure the openness and security of the route.
"Hopefully, China, France, Japan, South Korea, Great Britain, and other countries affected by this artificial restriction will send ships to the area so that the Strait of Hormuz ceases to pose a threat," Trump wrote.
At the same time, the U.S. president added that America would continue military actions against Iran and "quickly make" the Strait of Hormuz safe and free.
The escalation in the region led to the de facto blocking of the Strait of Hormuz — a key route for oil and LNG supplies from the Persian Gulf countries, which affected the level of energy resource exports and production and led to a significant increase in oil and gas prices on world markets.
Amid rising prices, the U.S. temporarily lifted sanctions on the sale of Russian oil and petroleum products loaded on ships before March 12, but the U.S. Energy Secretary at the same time noted that restrictions against Russian oil in general are not being canceled.
