Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister: We will never agree to Belarus being part of the Russian world
As part of the celebration of the Belarusian Freedom Day, traditionally organized by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski emphasized that Poland will do everything possible to resist a situation where Russia's neo-imperial and neo-colonial ambitions, which view Belarus as part of the Russian world, are encouraged. “We will never agree to this,” he stressed.

“The democratic development of Belarus is of fundamental importance for Poland, our region, and Europe, and is a prerequisite for security and development. We do not want Lukashenka to rule Belarus, we do not want Russians to rule Belarus. We want free Belarusians who will join the European Union and with whom we will have normal state relations,” — the Deputy Minister stated.
He also mentioned that he had had a conversation with Belarusian national leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on how to continue believing in independence when surrounded by such bloody dictators who oppress their people.
“I believe there is no other option [than to continue believing],” noted Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski. “We went through the same path. Of course, it was easier for Poland because we were not part of the Soviet Union. And we understand and appreciate that. But for decades, we had an independent government in exile and always believed that it was the true government of our country. And we always believed that one day we would be free. It took time — from 1945 to 1990. But in the end, we achieved it. Not all generations of Poles believed they would be free in their lifetime, but they had no doubt that freedom would eventually come.”

“Almost six years have passed since 2020. But there is light. You have representatives who work very effectively and strive to do the most important thing — unite different groups of Belarusian emigrants, because here they can work as free people. I want you all to understand that the fundamental goal of every Belarusian is to create a sovereign, independent, democratic Belarus as part of Europe. Because there can be no free Europe without a free Belarus. We, in turn, have always believed that there is no freedom without solidarity. We are in solidarity with Belarus,” — emphasized the Polish Deputy Prime Minister.
