According to the KitKat manufacturer, a truck with hundreds of thousands of chocolate bars left Italy and was supposed to distribute chocolate throughout Europe, but it never reached its final destination in Poland.
Nestle did not specify exactly where the goods disappeared, but noted that the location of the vehicle and the chocolate is still unknown.
The company added that they can track the stolen KitKats using a QR code on the packaging, so if someone tries to scan it, the system will provide instructions on how to contact the company.
"While we appreciate the exceptional taste of the criminals, the fact remains that cargo theft is unacceptable for businesses of any size," KitKat stated.
They also warned that the theft could lead to a shortage of chocolate bars in Europe, particularly ahead of the Easter holidays.
"Investigations are ongoing in close cooperation with local authorities and supply chain partners," the manufacturer noted.
