The African country Uganda unexpectedly announced its desire to enter the war with Iran on the side of Israel. The country stated that, supposedly, "one brigade" of the Ugandan army would be enough to capture Tehran. As reported by RBC-Ukraine, this was written by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ugandan Armed Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of the country's incumbent president.

"I heard that our friends in Israel are looking for a division to capture Tehran. Personally, I think a division is too much. A brigade of the UPDF will quickly handle this task," he wrote.
Kainerugaba explained that Israel strongly supported Uganda in the 1980s and 1990s. Therefore, Uganda, he said, should now come to its defense.
"Israel was with us when we were nobody in the 1980s and 1990s. Why shouldn't we defend it now, when our GDP is 100 billion dollars? One of the largest in Africa," he added.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ugandan army also noted that the country supports the principle that the war in the Middle East should end. But not with an Iranian victory.
"We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will draw us into the war. On Israel's side!" he concluded.
Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Force, the eldest son of the country's incumbent President Yoweri Museveni. Since 1999, he has served in various positions in the Ugandan armed forces, fighting in South Sudan.
Kainerugaba is known for his scandalous posts on social media. One incident almost cost him his career: in 2022, Kainerugaba publicly threatened to invade Kenya, which led to him being removed from his position as commander of an infantry unit.
However, despite all the scandals, in 2024 Muhoozi Kainerugaba was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF. In this position, he supported his father's nomination for a seventh presidential term. And in 2025 and 2026, he "gained notoriety" through open threats to members of the Ugandan opposition, which opposes Museveni's rule.
