Finland Initiates Check into Whether US Weapons Paid for by Europe Are Reaching Ukraine
Finland intends to check whether weapons from the US, which European countries are purchasing for Ukraine within the PURL program, are indeed arriving where they are intended. This was reported by Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen in an interview with Euronews.

According to the Finnish minister, concerns have arisen in Europe that US military resources might be decreasing due to the conflict in Iran, and there have also been reports that some of these resources might be diverted to the Middle East.
In this regard, Finland wants to ensure that the US fulfills its obligations under contracts with NATO countries that are purchasing American weapons for Ukraine.
Häkkänen noted that the use of funds is constantly monitored, and for now, there is confidence that the system is working. However, if problems arise, the approach may be reviewed.
This issue became particularly relevant after reports from the Washington Post, where, citing sources, it was stated that the Pentagon is considering diverting weapons intended for Ukraine to other regions due to a shortage of ammunition.
Among such weapons are missiles for air defense systems, which are purchased under the PURL program. However, a final decision, as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserts, has not yet been made.
US President Donald Trump, commenting on the situation, stated that such diversions happen regularly: weapons can be taken from one direction and used in another.
At the same time, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that he has no confirmation that weapons acquired under the PURL program are indeed being diverted.
