On Monday evening, March 30, a wolf attacked a person in the middle of the metropolis, in central Hamburg. The predator encountered a woman in the Altona district near an IKEA store and attacked her. The animal bit the victim in the face, and the woman was immediately hospitalized with severe injuries.
Reports of the predator had been coming to the police in recent days from various areas, including near an elementary school, but previously it had avoided people.
Experts confirmed that this young predator was likely driven out of its pack and was looking for new territory.
Capturing the animal turned into a large-scale police operation. Late in the evening, it was discovered on the embankment. Fleeing from law enforcement, the wolf jumped into the river, from where it was pulled out with the help of a special noose.
The predator was handed over to hunters for removal from the city center.
