Belarusian Choir Captivated Polish "Mam Talent" Jury with Folk Christmas Song
The choir of emigrants from Belarus and Ukraine, SPIEVY, which includes, among others, vocalist and voice of Minsk railway station Rusya Shuma (Maryna Shukyurava), captivated the jury of the popular Polish show "Mam Talent!" (Polish for "I Have Talent!"). All four judges highly praised the singers' performance and gave them an unequivocal "yes." The choir reached the semi-finals.

For their performance, the girls chose the folk song "Kalyada" (Christmas Carol) — they performed it a cappella, conveying all nuances solely through the power of polyphony.
«Three years ago, we realized we needed something from our homeland, which we cannot return to. We craved something from our DNA. And we wanted to sing. And we found support within ourselves and in singing,» the artists explained the history of their group's formation in Warsaw.

During SPIEVY's performance, the judges did not hide their enchantment with the women's vocals — some even closed their eyes in pleasure.
«I'm in love,» commented the famous Polish singer and writer Agnieszka Chylińska at the end. Others noted that the singing seemed to immerse them in another dimension, a metaphysical space.
The female project SPIEVY was formed in 2025. It performs traditional Belarusian songs, as well as songs from bordering Slavic territories — Poland, Ukraine, and Lithuania. They can be seen at numerous Belarusian (and beyond) events or listened to online — the choir has already released a mini-album.
