Czech court overturned refusal of international protection for 23-year-old Belarusian Yakov Kudelyavich, who spent 73 days in a coma
On August 21, the court considered an appeal against the refusal of international protection for 23-year-old Belarusian Yakov Kudelyavich and ruled in favor of the young man.

His father, Dmitry Kudelyavich, announced this on his Facebook page.
— The decision is in our favor! A clear example of how two branches of government — the judiciary and the executive — work independently of each other, — wrote Kudelyavich.
Yakov Kudelyavich left Belarus after the 2020 protests, when he was 17 years old. He studied in the Czech Republic for several years, but later encountered legalization problems and applied for international protection. His father, Dmitry, lives in Poland.
The Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs initially denied the young man protection, after which the decision was appealed in court.
In early April, the son stopped contacting his father. As a result, Yakov was found unconscious on the floor in his room at the reception center for migrants applying for international protection. According to doctors, Yakov had taken a number of medical drugs and had been unconscious for about a day. The young man was urgently transported to the hospital. He spent 73 days in a coma, and woke up from it at the end of June.
Dmitry Kudelyavich recounted that on June 24, his wife unexpectedly called him and said: "Dmitry, your son wants to talk to you." For me, it was like a bolt from the blue. For 73 days, my son was in a deep coma. And when I picked up the phone, he said: "Hello, Dad." It's hard to convey how powerful and touching that was."
