Meta corporation head Mark Zuckerberg has bought a castle in Ireland that is almost 200 years old. This residence is located approximately 200 km from the European headquarters of his concern in Dublin, writes Bild.
The castle in question is Strancally Castle on the banks of the River Blackwater in County Waterford. It is a three-story building with an area of about 1500 square meters. The adjacent territory of 178 hectares includes forests, gardens, and a boat pier. The castle was built between 1825 and 1835.
How much the founder of Facebook and his wife Priscilla Chan paid for the property is unknown. The Irish Times newspaper, which first reported the purchase, writes about 20-30 million euros. However, there is no official confirmation of this valuation. According to journalists, the castle was sold by Michael Allen-Buckley, co-founder of the London private investment company RAB Capital.
Zuckerberg and his wife have reportedly been looking for a residence in Ireland for some time. In correspondence with the news website Business Insider, Zuckerberg's spokesperson Brian Baker stated: "Mark and his family are excited to continue to care for this historic home and to spend time in Ireland, where Meta has its international headquarters." The company has about 1500 employees in Dublin and Cork, as well as its data processing center in Clonee.
In March, Zuckerberg also acquired new real estate in the USA — he bought a mega-estate for $170 million on the private Indian Creek Island near Miami (Florida). This island is also called Billionaire Bunker.
