"More chaos than strategy." What American media write about the ceasefire with Iran

US President Donald Trump announced a two-week truce 90 minutes before the end of his "terrible ultimatum" to Iran. The whole world felt relief: oil prices are falling, stock indices are rising. However, there are still more questions than answers. Did Trump win the war, as he claims? BILD looked at what American media are writing.

New York Times: "Tactical Success, Strategic Risks"

The liberal publication believes that Trump achieved tactical success but acquired long-term problems.

The expected resumption of oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz reduces economic tension worldwide. However, the outcome of the war is rather alarming: the Iranian nuclear program has not been stopped, the mullah regime remains in power, and Tehran may even gain control over the Strait of Hormuz as a result.

NYT's conclusion: the world could "find itself in a worse position than before."

Wall Street Journal: "Trump's Dangerous Poker"

The conservative newspaper emphasizes the "risk to trust" in the commander-in-chief. Trump did not appear as a president who staged a show of force, but as a politician who found himself under pressure and was forced in a panic to seek a way out of the current situation.

CNN: "Chaotic Crisis Politics"

CNN describes Trump's policy in recent days as a "rollercoaster" — from sharp threats to an unexpected breakthrough in negotiations.

US actions appear erratic and difficult to predict. They show more chaos than strategy.

It's no coincidence that the sarcastic meme TACO ("Trump Always Chickens Out") has spread – about Trump, who often retreats.

Fox News: "You Weren't With Us"

Fox News, loyal to Trump, praises the tough stance that forced Tehran to make concessions, while also warning NATO about the consequences. Trump feels "betrayed" by Europe, and therefore Washington may reconsider its role as alliance leader and use the discord with European partners for a geostrategic reorientation, Fox News believes.

Daily Beast: "Trump Was Humiliated"

The left-leaning news platform remains critical. It calls Trump's claims about the ceasefire "absurd fantasies" and an attempt to present defeat as victory.

According to the Daily Beast editorial board, the ceasefire is not a real deal, but an attempt to stop a crisis exacerbated by Trump himself.
