According to a report by USA Today, citing two informed sources, the Pentagon is allegedly developing plans for a possible military operation in Cuba. The department itself notes that it is preparing options for various scenarios and is ready to carry out the president's orders.

This refers to a possible escalation in relations between Washington and Havana. Earlier this year, Donald Trump's administration restricted oil supplies to Cuba, attempting to exert economic pressure.
Before that, Trump stated his intentions to "take Cuba in one form or another" and spoke about the possibility of action against the country after other foreign policy conflicts. In response, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel declared that the country is ready to resist in case of an invasion and will defend itself to the end.
At the same time, experts note that for now, this may be more of a show of force than actual preparation for an operation. They suggest that the Cuban army is technically outdated, so a military scenario could be relatively quick, but politically very complex.
