Belarusian border guards taught a young Russian woman to correctly name our country. And she was very offended
The official account of the Belarusian border service advised guests of the country to remember the correct name — Belarus, not Belorussia. And then all hell broke loose…
The original post was about a person at the «Belorussia» border supposedly having their Russian passport annulled. As proof, there was also a photo of the document with an «Annulled» stamp.
The official account of the Belarusian border service came to explain the situation in the comments: «The border explanatory brigade has arrived: the border service does not deal with annulling passports. If there were any problems with the document, we would simply confiscate it.
And since you are already our guests, we remind you that the correct name for our state is the Republic of Belarus or Belarus.»

The border guards' comment garnered over a thousand likes. But Russians in the comments went wild. A typical set of arguments followed: for example, about Germany, which no one calls Deutschland in Russian. And the «Pesnyary» song, of course, was mentioned.

The Russian woman Aliaksandra Meliakova was particularly offended. She admitted that she used to think that comments about Belarusians' dislike for Russians were only written by bots. But upon seeing the comment in a «didactic-sarcastic» tone from the border service, she was deeply offended.

She says she used to hear a lot of good things about Belarus and wanted to visit, but now she will travel around her homeland or other countries where she is «not taught how to speak her own language.» Belarusians in the comments are happy with this decision. And Aliaksandra doesn't hesitate to call everyone a bot.
