Cuban President promised strong resistance in case of US invasion
The US almost daily threatens Cuba with the overthrow of its government by force, but in the worst-case scenario, any external aggressor will face insurmountable resistance, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote on X.

He spoke of outrageous restrictions on "a weakened economy that they have attacked and tried to isolate for more than six decades."
"They intend and announce plans to seize the country, its resources, property, and even the economy itself, which they seek to stifle to force us to surrender. Only this way can we explain the brutal economic war waged as collective punishment against the entire population," Díaz-Canel added.
According to Axios, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is holding closed consultations with 41-year-old Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, who is the grandson of former Cuban President Raúl Castro.
On March 9, Trump told reporters that Rubio would seek a "friendly takeover" of the island by the United States, but also allowed for a scenario involving the use of military force.
The US has made it clear to Havana that it would like to see Díaz-Canel's departure. Washington considers him a hardliner and an opponent of necessary structural economic reforms.
The US also seeks the removal of some elderly officials who remain adherents of Fidel Castro's ideas.
