In Poland — a massive forest fire. An experienced pilot died in it

In the Lublin Voivodeship of Poland, a massive forest fire is being fought: the fire has engulfed about 250 hectares of forest. Rescuers managed to stop the further spread of the flames, but at a great cost. An M18 Dromader aircraft crashed during the fire, killing an experienced pilot, writes RMF24.

In the area of the settlement of Kazaki (Biłgoraj County), the fight against a devastating forest fire has been ongoing for two days. The fire has engulfed 250 hectares of forest.

During another firefighting sortie, a specialized M18 Dromader aircraft crashed. As a result of the crash, an experienced pilot died. Poland's Minister of Interior, Marcin Kierwiński, confirmed the pilot's death, noting his high professionalism.

The fire is classified as a "crown fire" — the flames spread through the treetops, making it especially dangerous and difficult for ground services to access.

Around 500 firefighters and 48 units of equipment are working at the scene. Another 60 crews from neighboring regions are expected to arrive.

Black Hawk helicopters, forestry aircraft, and reconnaissance drones have been deployed for firefighting. Soldiers from the Territorial Defense Forces have joined the operation.

Authorities report that the fire has been contained for now — it is no longer spreading, although the fire front remains active. The nearest residential buildings are approximately 6 km from the fire.
