In Finland, a conductor so diligently led the orchestra that he knocked an 18th-century violin from the musician's hands
A regrettable incident occurred at the Sinfonia Lahti concert in Finland: during the performance of a violin concerto, a very valuable 18th-century violin fell from the hands of soloist Elina Vähälä, reports yle.fi.

According to reports, the incident happened in the finale of the piece. The conductor, actively leading the orchestra, accidentally brushed the instrument with his hand, and the violin flew out of the musician's hands. The instrument fell to the floor, but, as Vähälä herself notes, she managed to put her foot out at the last moment to cushion the fall.
This violin is a rare instrument by the 18th-century Italian master Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. Its price can reach from one to several million euros. But for the musician, as she claims, even more important than the cost is the fact that the instrument has "got used" to her over the years and has become part of her sound and style.
After the incident, the concert was briefly stopped. The instrument was inspected, tuned, and the performance continued. However, the musician noted that the violin's sound had changed slightly – possibly one of the elements had shifted or a seam had slightly come apart.
The instrument has now been sent for inspection by specialist repair technicians. Preliminary assessment suggests the damage is minor, but this requires verification.
The conductor apologized after the incident, and the orchestra supported the soloist. She herself bears no ill will and hopes to quickly return her violin to working condition for future concerts.
