Vladimir Putin wants to end the war against Ukraine by the end of this year, but only on terms he considers "victorious" for Russia, writes Bloomberg, citing a source familiar with the situation.
This refers, in particular, to full control over Donbas.
Also, according to the agency, Putin seeks a broader security agreement with Europe that would effectively recognize Russia's territorial gains.
At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied that Putin had set any deadline for ending the war.
In addition, Bloomberg's sources say that nervousness is spreading among the Russian elite. Some high-ranking Kremlin officials believe the war is at a stalemate with no clear path to resolution.
