In Warsaw, organizers of a shelter for Belarusian refugees found a new home, but need help

The Warsaw shelter for Belarusian refugees "Zatsishsha" (Quiet Place) plans to move to a new, more spacious home in May. The new building was found by activists Hanna Fedaronak and Alesia Bunevich from the "Prytulyai Menya" (Shelter Me) foundation, which oversees the shelter. However, for the move to happen, the foundation is urgently asking for support, Alesia Bunevich explained to "Radio Svaboda".

"We will be able to move as early as the beginning of May: we reached an agreement with the owner of the house, but an urgent financial problem arose. It is that we need to pay the realtors by the end of the month: we failed to get another building from the city hall, which we had counted on, and as a result, we found a new building with the help of realtors.

Lawyers helped adapt the agreement with the owner to the specifics of our activities. The services of specialists cost a lot of money. We must pay by the end of the month. We need to raise 10 thousand zlotys - which is approximately 2 thousand euros. We will be very grateful to Belarusians and all people who provide help," Alesia Bunevich said.

According to Alesia Bunevich, 12 people currently live in the shelter, but the flow of refugees from Belarus does not stop, which is why a new and more spacious building was needed.

"Out of the group of political prisoners who were brought out of Belarus in December, 12 people lived with us. They had the status of political prisoners, they were assigned mentors, they were helped faster with documents. But most of those who come to us were evacuated from Belarus with the help of BySol, and they are in a different situation: often without political prisoner status, in a difficult psychological state, in despair.

For example, people are coming who face persecution in the 'Hayun case', but they do not have political prisoner status. There are no well-known figures among them, but they need no less help. For the new house, there is some new furniture, certain household items have been purchased. Earlier, in February, we announced a fundraiser for such needs and specified a line there for 'financial reserve'. Now we are asking for this part of the collection to be urgently fulfilled," Alesia Bunevich said.

According to Alesia Bunevich, the lease for the current "Zatsishsha" shelter building on Bałotnaya Street expires on May 20.

Няўжо нельга зняць 3 звычайныя хаты для гэтых дзесяці чалавек і не марочыць людзям глузды? Дайце людзям магчымасць і матывацыю ЗАРАБЛЯЦЬ!!!
