Six bison from the Bialowieza Forest have been delivered to Russia's Bashkortostan, where a project to restore the population of these animals is underway, writes BelTA.

The animals were transported to the "Muradymovo Gorge" nature park in the Kugarchinsky district. The bison endured almost three thousand kilometers and three days on the road without problems. During the trip, they were regularly fed and watered.
One adult male and five females were sent to Bashkortostan. Two of them are expected to give birth soon. Initially, the animals will be kept in special enclosures for quarantine, and after one to two months, they are planned to be released into the wild.
Experts note that bison lived in the Southern Urals thousands of years ago, but were completely exterminated by humans in the last century. Now, their population is being restored in the region.
The first 18 bison from Belarus were brought to Bashkortostan back in 2023. They have successfully adapted and have already produced offspring. By 2030, the number of bison in the region is planned to be increased to 50 individuals.
