Minskzelenstroi commented on the appearance of linden trees in pots on Minsk avenue
Linden trees will reappear on Independence Avenue in Minsk — this time they are being planted in special pots. As of July 31, 52 linden trees have already been placed, and in the coming days, the central thoroughfare is planned to be adorned with approximately 150 such trees, writes the Minsk-Novosti agency.

This decision came after the renovation of sidewalks on Independence Avenue. In place of old trees, some sections were paved with tiles, and pots with trees were placed on them. This approach was not well-received by social media users.
Minskzelenstroi explained that approximately 150 trees are planned to be placed on the section up to the intersection with Yanka Kupala Street.

The choice of linden trees is due to the fact that these trees traditionally grew on the avenue. In addition, linden trees tolerate formative pruning well, so they can be given the desired shape.
According to current plans, the trees in pots will remain on the avenue permanently, including during winter. The height of the pots exceeds one meter, so road de-icing agents should affect the trees less. If winter conditions prove unfavorable, the linden pots can be temporarily removed.

Minskzelenstroi previously explained that the old trees along Independence Avenue were severely affected by de-icing agents used on the streets in winter, as well as by exhaust gases. Despite fertilization, watering, and other care measures, it was not possible to save some of the plantings.
Therefore, instead of new trees in the ground on the central thoroughfare, it was decided to use linden trees in special pots.
In Belarus, rules for the evacuation of valuables in case of war approved: bricks from Brest Fortress with inscriptions will be saved before paintings by Chagall and Soutine
