Legendary Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has begun a new phase of his career — he has joined the creation of a large-scale drama series about British football. The former Manchester United forward will serve as an executive producer for the project and will also play one of the roles in it, reports The Sun.
Filming for the series, titled Day 1s, has already begun. Some scenes are being filmed at the stadium of the English club Barnet in northwest London. The lead role is played by renowned British actor Damian Lewis, who will embody the character of fictional football agent Stanley Dalton.
According to sources, former French footballer Thierry Henry will also join the project, who was once one of Ronaldo's main rivals in the English Premier League.
The plot is based on an idea by football agent Darren Dein, who represents Henry's interests. The creators note that after the World Cup, interest in British football, especially in the USA, has significantly increased. The new series is aimed at an international audience and combines drama with elements of humor.
The project is being created by UR Marv Studios, which Ronaldo founded with renowned British director Matthew Vaughn, creator of the films Kingsman and Kick-Ass. In addition to Lewis, British rapper Dave and young actress Carlotta Banat will also star in the series.
Matthew Vaughn previously stated that he wants to create new stories with Ronaldo, no longer on the football field, but in cinema. The footballer himself called his participation in film projects a new exciting phase of his life.
In 2026, the 41-year-old Ronaldo continues his football career: he plays for the Saudi club Al-Nassr, remains captain of the Portuguese national team, and simultaneously develops his own projects in the fields of cinema and entertainment.
