Officials mixed up apartment numbers and settled a woman incorrectly, then demanded she swap with a neighbor after she renovated
An unpleasant story unfolded in Dyatlovo.
Volha Hramadskaya grew up in an orphanage and had been on the waiting list for improved housing conditions for many years. In 2025, as an orphan, she was granted a new three-room rental apartment №4 in a new building in Dyatlovo (Grodno region). The woman, with her two children (aged 13 and 9), moved in, renovated, and furnished the home to her liking — spending more than 10,000 rubles.
A year later, the housing and communal services called and informed her: the developer had mixed up the apartment numbering when handing over the building, and Volha was actually supposed to live in apartment №6, not №4 (the apartments are similar in area). The woman was offered to simply move, without compensation, as described by sb.by.
Volha tried to negotiate — she suggested simply correcting the documents if the difference was minimal. But they refused, offering only movers for the relocation. Then she turned to the prosecutor's office, recorded a video on TikTok, and went to the media.
The housing and communal services confirmed: the mistake was made by the developer (UKB Slonim district), and the housing fund master did not notice it during acceptance. The problem was only discovered a year later, when neighbors began processing their technical passports. The reason why documents cannot simply be changed: apartment №6 was built with budget funds, while Volha's apartment is a rental, so officially these are different categories of housing.
After journalists visited, the housing and communal services stated that they would nevertheless try to resolve the situation at the document level, without forcing the family to move.
