Zelenskyy: Weapons exhibitions during wartime definitely cannot be held
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after today's Russian ballistic missile strike on the Kyiv region, stated that military conditions do not allow for the holding of weapons exhibitions with a large number of people.
In his evening video address, the President of Ukraine noted that this had "already been said a thousand times" and emphasized that such an event "definitely should not have taken place."
According to Zelenskyy, although Russia bears responsibility for the attack, in a situation where the country is at war with an adversary like Russia, holding weapons exhibitions, especially near residential buildings and with the mass participation of people, is unacceptable.
Zelenskyy also expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the missile strike.
On July 24, an air alert was announced in Kyiv and the Kyiv region due to the threat of ballistic missile use. Soon after, explosions were heard.
Later, Valeriy Borovyk, founder of the defense products manufacturing company First Contact, reported on Apostrophe TV that the strike hit a training ground where a weapons exhibition was taking place at the time.
The "Ukrainian Council of Armsmakers" also confirmed that the attack was carried out at a location where representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry were present. The organization noted that information about the exact location of the event was not publicly disseminated.
According to preliminary data, the strike killed 10 people and injured about 100 more.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the investigation must determine who made the decision to hold the event, who approved its location, time, and format, what security measures were envisioned, and whether the risks were properly assessed under martial law.
